About

The OKANOGAN ASSOCIATION

The USS OKANOGAN ASSOCIATION is an organization of Officers and Enlisted men that served on the ship from its commission on December 3, 1944 to its removal from service on November 28, 1979.

The USS OKANOGAN APA 220 was named after the OKANOGAN county in the state of Washington. The ship was an amphibious personnel assault ship. The primary mission was to carry and disembark on the beach a full battalion of troops. The ship received many battle stars and written commendations while in service.

After having held reunions in cities across the United States every year (except the Covid year) since 1991, the Okanogan Organization held its final reunion in New Orleans in 2025. However, we still strive to stay in contact with one another via personal e-mail, phone calls, letters, and notes. On a more formal basis, we also maintain contact via this website, our newsletter (published twice a year), and various Facebook pages.
